It’s been a while since I’ve sat down to write. Isn’t it funny how inspiration often strikes when you’re out and about—standing in line, driving, or watching the world around you—only to vanish by the time you’re home and ready to put pen to paper? I’ve decided maybe that’s okay. Perhaps those fleeting thoughts weren’t meant to be written just yet. Writing, for me, seems to happen best when the inspiration really takes hold.
This morning, what came to me was the rhythm of the seasons.
Do you have a favorite season? Or maybe you live in a place where the weather doesn’t change all that much. For me, each season holds something beautiful—something worth noticing and cherishing.
I love fall. 🍂 Even though I would never wear browns and oranges, the trees wear them magnificently. Our anniversary falls in September, and we’ve often celebrated by driving along the Mississippi River near Dubuque, Iowa. The rolling hills along the river explode into a tapestry of color—gold, red, russet, and burnt orange—reminding me that even endings can be breathtaking.
Spring, though, always makes me smile. 🌸 After months of drabness and cold, it feels like the whole world wakes up and stretches. Bright flowers push their way through the soil, trees bud, and colors burst back into view—soft pastels and brilliant blossoms alike. It feels like hope itself blooming all around.
Summer might be my favorite. ☀️ There’s warmth, light, and life everywhere. The birds sing their hearts out, gardens overflow, and the wild is full of babies—tiny fawns, fluffy chicks, curious little critters, each one a reminder of innocence and new beginnings. And as I get older, I’ll admit—my body doesn’t like the cold quite as much as it used to. Summer feels like a kind of relief. A gift.
Each season is different, and yet they all remind me of the same truth: there is beauty all around, if only we slow down and take the time to notice it.
So now I’d love to know… what’s your favorite season, and why?

✨ From my corner of Iowa, where the seasons keep me inspired—
Sonya
